Enrolment

The enrolment process involves a few steps

1) Application

Please see the How to apply part of this section.

2) Offer

If your application is successful, you will be issued a letter of offer. This will include instructions on how to accept your offer online.

3) Acceptance

You must accept your offer online. Sending a paper acceptance to admissions is no longer sufficient.

To do this, follow the instructions on your letter of offer. The link is http://www.my.unsw.edu.au

4) Interview

Before you can enrol, you will be invited to attend an informal interview with Dr John Merson, Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies. He will discuss with you the direction in which you would like to take the program, and guide you in your course choice.

Samantha Banks, the Administrative Assistant, will contact you prior to the beginning of semester to organise an interview. If you haven't received an email or phone call from Sam and are starting to get worried, please contact her on (61 2) 9385 5687 or ies@unsw.edu.au

5) Enrolment

Immediately after your interview, and once you have chosen your courses, Sofia Haidar will be able to enrol you. Throughout your program with the IES we will always enrol you in your courses.

6) Collection of Unipass and Student Card

Once you have been enrolled, you will need to collect your Unipass and your Student Card. These are both necessary items.

You collect your Unipass from DIS><CONNECT (the IT Service Desk Counter), which is located on the ground floor of the Library.

You collect your Student Card from E-Spot, in the Red Centre.

7) Saturday Workshop

When you are enrolling with the IES, you will be told about our Saturday Workshop. The IES runs this introductory session for new students on the first Saturday of sessions 1 and 2. Attendance is not compulsory, however students tend to find it very useful.

The Saturday Workshop for Session 1 2008 will be held on 8 March 2008. It includes lunch, and is a great way to get to know your fellow students and the academic staff at the IES. In this workshop, you will discuss the learning method, referencing and research, and you will also be introduced to the UNSW Library system.
